At Marchwood Junior School, we use the phonics scheme called ‘Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised’ to teach children to read. If your child has not mastered phonics before joining our school, they will be taught using this resource to ensure that they catch up with their peers as quickly as possible.

We use the Little Wandle Rapid Catch Up which is a scheme for children who are 7 years and above. The resources are designed to appeal to children of this age and the scheme works at a faster pace than the scheme designed for infant schools.

If your child has lessons using Little Wandle, then they will have a book that they can access online to read to an adult at home. Please try to read this three times a week. This book will be updated weekly.
